Hey everyone! I’m Maria Birrittella from Yonkers, NY (five minutes from the start of NYC) and I am a neuroscience major. My little brother was diagnosed with epilepsy when he was around three years old and ever since then I have wanted to know what causes this horrible disorder. I only have one brother but I also have a jack russel named Sofie who is treated just as well as a human in my house. I used to be very athletic and played soccer and danced competitively until I partially tore all of the ligaments in my knee and tore up all the cartilege (fun!!!!). Now I spend my time volunteering at my church, watching Netflix and going on little adventures with my friends and family. I am very excited to be at UD and can’t wait to see where this semester takes us!

Hey! My name is Abby Joseph. I am from Miami, Florida and I am a freshman at the University of Delaware. I have an older sister and younger brother. My sister also attends UD. My major is political science but I feel like that will change. Some things I love include traveling, going to the gym, the beach, Netflix, and hanging out with my friends and family. I am excited for this upcoming year and can’t wait to learn more about this class.

Hello class. My name is Eliza Schank and I am from central New Jersey. I have lived in North, central, and the Jersey shore throughout my life and can confidently say that it’s one of the best states. I live around an hour from New York City and an hour from the beach. UD is only two hours away from my town. My major is University Studies right now, but I will probably declare communications as my major. I am excited for a great year!

Hello Class, hopefully I am writing this in the right place, My name is Nick de Moura and Im glad we all made it through the first week. I am from Garden City New York and I have just transferred to The university of Delaware this year. I am a criminal justice major I’m also minoring in history. Lets start the school year off strong and finish strong!

Hi everyone!! My name is Brooke Surgan and I am from Suffern, New York (30 minutes outside the city). I have one younger brother! Some things that I love to do are hanging out with friends, going to the gym, watching Netflix, and traveling. I am majoring in Early Childhood Education/ Special Education! I am looking forward to an amazing school year and good luck to everyone in their first semester! 🙂

Hi everyone, my name is Amanda Krysko and I’m from Bucks County, Pennsylvania. I am currently in University of Studies program, but am thinking about majoring in psychology. Outside of school I love to play soccer and go hiking. I have played soccer my whole life and plan on being on the intramural team here at UD. Also, I plan on getting involved with Greek life later in the winter. I’m looking forward to getting to know all of you!

Hi everyone! I’m Abby and I’m from Downingtown Pennsylvania, which is about an hour from UD and about an hour from Philly. I am an environmental studies major here at UD and I live in South Academy in the Discover our World LLC, so yes that means I have AC (which I don’t take for granted!). I love to travel and have gotten to visit Italy, France, Spain, Monaco, Panama, and Alaska, but I hate planes. I cheer for UD as well and because I am only 5 feet tall, I am a flyer, or as many people would say, one of the ones that get thrown in the air. Hope you all come out to the football games! Go hens!

Hi everyone, my name is Emma Donahue and Delaware is my home state. I attended high school at the Charter School of Wilmington, and like 90% of my grade, I decided to spend the next four (plus one) years of my life here at the University of Delaware.

I applied to UD as a psychology major, but switched to Neuroscience after I decided a BS better suited my career path. And if it’s not clear enough already, I’m big time into mental health problems. I know that sounds absolutely whack to most people, but what can I say? I like the brain. More specifically, I want to know about schizophrenia and I hope to one day find out what gene makes people predisposed to schizophrenia.

When I don’t have my nose in the nearest psychology textbook, I like to spend my time drawing or learning about animals (both exotic and domestic). I’m also a huge nerd when it comes to all my TV shows.

I look forward to the rest of this semester and hopefully meeting some of you guys!

Hey everyone! My name is Becca. I was born and raised right here, in Newark, Delaware. During the summer, I live at my family’s second home in Bethany Beach. Needless to say, I am a beach bum. Most of my hobbies involve the beach too. For example, I love to swim, kayak, paddle board, fish, and even make failed attempts at surfing. However, my absolute favorite thing to do is read a good book while basking in the afternoon sun.

I am a Public Policy and Administration major. My dad is a lobbyist and truly my inspiration. I hope to be as impactful as he is someday. I love my family and my friends, and I hope to make some of you my friends too. I live in Russell, so if anyone ever wants to have a study date or just some girl time, don’t hesitate to reach out.
