I want to do my research on the effects that stan culture (fandoms) on the internet have on teenagers and adolescents but I’ve already searched some databases and can’t find solid enough evidence to help support it so if anyone has suggestions,,,
P2 Proposal
The topic that I will be researching is whether or not LSD should be legalized for microdosing. In this paper will begin by describing the reasons why it was originally made illegal. I will then present information and research about how microdosing can be helpful to people such as:
- Helps people get over their fear of death
- Help people get over addiction
- Helps anxiety
- Helps OCD
P2 Proposal Idea
I am planning on doing my research on injuries in youth sports. I want to research why serious injuries such as torn ACL’s, serious rib and back injuries, and more happen in youth sports and can affect these athletes for the rest of their lives. I think it is crazy how competitive and serious sports for kids are from 5-12th grade are. The raised level of competitiveness and commitment has yielded many positive results that society praises, but also has many negative ones people ignore. Youth sports injuries are serious because they can impact athletes lives forever. I wanna research this and determine wether this increased level of youth sports is worth it for kids considering the injury risks and the life-long effects of those injuries.
Proposal: How Laughter is the Best Medicine
I will be researching how humor and amusement positively impact our daily lives. I plan on going into it’s impact on mental and physical health plus how we can use it to better ourselves and be more positive as an outcome.
Space Exploration: An even bigger step for mankind?
If the human race were to colonize space, It would ensure the longevity of our race to survive. But where could we go? The closest planet next to Earth is Mars and there is no possible way we can survive there the way it is. The closest planet that is habitable is 12 light years away with would be impossible for us to get to in our lifetimes. The article states that there are no bases built yet on other planets. Nasa would have to construct controlled ecological life support sytems that have yet been developed in a meaningful way yet. It would take billions of dollars and thousands of man hours to set up colonies on mars that could sustain life for generations. Space colonization could solve over population. If we were to colonize Mars and making living sustainable, we can move all our efforts to populate Mars instead or any other planet for that matter.
How Social Media effects Eating Disorders:
In today’s society there is so much pressure to be picture perfect all the time. People feed off the amount of likes, comments, and views they receive on social media platforms. It is incredibly toxic the amount of satisfaction individuals generate from receiving a like on a picture. It is especially difficult for teenagers on social media to look up to models like Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid, and Hailey Baldwin with their unrealistic body image. What I would like to research is how social media can cause insecurities which eventually can lead to eating disorders like anorexia and bulimia. Individuals with eating disorders constantly compare themselves to others, which is a main factor in social media. When a person with an eating disorder sees a photo on Instagram of their favorite model in a bikini looking extremely thin, they can begin to compare themselves and obsess over the image of looking exactly like that model even if it is not realistic to their body type. People become fixated on looking a certain way.
Some research that I found interesting was on pro-anorexia and pro-bulimia and how there are places on social media that encourage eating disorders. People on this platform can compare body images and give harmful advice to hurt their bodies by not eating.
Proposal: Special Olympics and Unified Sports
I will be researching about how Special Olympics and Unified Sports affect the world as a whole. I want to investigate how the atmosphere and the program itself affects people both with and without intellectual disabilities. I think these programs are absolutely essential to every community because of the positive impact it leaves behind. Special Olympics and Unified sports not only influence the emotional and social aspects of an individual, but also their overall heath and wellness.
P2 Research Paper Ideas
My first idea I want to potentially explore is
- Who are millennials?
- Why are they hated in society?
- What have they done in society?
- Are they really all that bad?
Another idea I’m interested in is exploring music festival culture and going back in time to events like Woodstock to see where all of this stuff started, answering questions like
- Where did this idea come to be?
- What are some of the big events that have come out of music festivals?
- What are some issues within them today/how have they evolved?
Lastly, this idea is a bit more unclear with what path I want to take with it, but I want to explore the world of social media influencers/youtubers/digitally created career people. Maybe go into
- How did this trend start?
- Why are they often frowned upon?
- What does it take to become this status since technically everyone can become it?
- Are they even considered real celebrities?
Proposal Ideas
I’m thinking about doing internalized racism among black people (colorism) but I don’t know if there is sources pertaining to this topic. Maybe active racism in general or mental health among black people. My mind is kind of everywhere sooooo
P2 proposal ideas
Most of the ideas I am thinking about pertain to the field of medicine and particularly genetics. Some of my ideas of interest are:
- CRISPR
- Cloning
- Mothers alcohol use effects on fetus/newborn
I am really interested in CRISPR and cloning particularly because I have interests in medicine and I find interactions with genes to be very intriguing. I also know people within the world of genetics, so that made my interests grow even more because I could see some things first hand.
