For my research paper, I will be debunking the theory that mass shooting are due to mental illnesses and bringing forth the argument that they are a direct result of the lack of strong gun control legislation in the United States. I will first be dismantling and discrediting the argument that mental illness plays any role in carrying out mass shootings. I will then discuss the fact that after each mass shooting, the United States Congress fails to implement any new legislation in order to protect their citizens. My worries for this paper are that I am trying to tackle too large of a topic and will not get my point across in under 3000 words.

My essay is about the connection between mental health and video games. It is not just about any video game, but more specifically the video games that are addictive. My plan to write this paper is to start with my intro and state my thesis. Then do some research through databases and scholarly websites. I’m going to do a paragraph focused on the background information then move into my topic with evidence to a specific video game. After my body paragraphs, I will then do my conclusion, where I restate my thesis and the main points that I brought up. I am not feeling too stressed about this paper right now, but it will be hard studying for exams and focusing on this paper.

My research paper is going to be about the effects of microdosing LSD and psychedelic drugs on mental health. My plan for writing this paper is to start with the body paragraphs, and then do the intro and conclusion after. I am hoping to space out this paper properly and not leave it all for the last minute. I am definitely about meeting the word count requirements, and being able to write enough about my topic. I really hope I can stay on top of this project, and that I can execute my research properly.

I am writing my paper on the biotechnology CRISPR. I plan on using the structure introduced to us in class. I plan to focus on what CRISPR is, how it is being used in China, how it is planned to be used and why there must be guidelines if CRISPR is going to continue to grow in the future.

My only worry about this topic is that there is a lot I can cover, so I need to really prioritize what I want my reader to get out of this. I am really interested in this topic, so I know the passion will be there. I just have to make sure I don’t get too caught up and stay on track.

My research paper is about the effect of weather on mood/mental health. I will be discussing the several factors of weather that influence people’s moods including temperature, hours of sunlight, hours spent outside, and many others. I am later going to discuss Seasonal Affective Disorder. My plan is to start with an intro and then dedicate each paragraph to every environmental factor that influences mood, and then write a paragraph or two about SAD, and end with a conclusion. My paragraphs are going to be in the format we learned in class and my evidence all comes from research, experiments and studies that people conducted to answer the same question as me about the relationship between weather and mood. I hate leaving things for the last minute so I plan to write a paragraph (or as much as I can do) almost everyday so it does not all add up after a while. I already started my intro and 2 paragraphs so I think I am on the right track. My only anxiety is if I will have enough information to reach the word count. There is a lot of information out there about the topic and I found some pretty good sources so I am hoping my paper will be detailed enough.

My essay is about the gender biases in music education and how teachers can avoid them in the classroom to create more gender conciencious environments.

I am pretty good at time management, but I do run into “writers block” often. To avoid this, I plan to first outline my entire essay, starting big with the 5 main parts of the essay we discussed in class, and then going into smaller focuses. This will keep me organized while helping me write my essay more effectively.

I don’t have any anxieties as of right now, but I anticipate at some point I will feel like I have more to talk about but have no idea what to write. I am very excited to write this paper mostly becasue I am very passionate about the topic!

Right now I do not have any anxieties towards my subject. I feel that I will have a lot of emotion in my argument which will catch peoples attention. My plan is to use some images of the evens that took place that shows the horrific incident.

For my P3 essay, my topic is mindfulness meditation. This is a topic I am pretty knowledgable on, and is something I do every day of my life.

I am not too worried about this essay. My plan is to write on days where I feel most energized and excited to talk about something I love; otherwise, the essay will lack the ethos that I know I can portray in it. For example, last night, I wrote the intro and part of the background because I felt inspired to do so. If I start early, then I can write in baby steps and be finished before Thanksgiving break.

Regarding research, I found a lot of really good sources, so I will just look through them when I continue to write my background. This will give me an idea of which sources I want to use in the actual essay and which one’s I don’t need.

Overall, this won’t be a bad essay. I am going to take it step by step.

Being an environmental science major, I have selected a topic I am familiar with, but not an expert in. Having some understanding of the topic, but not knowing every little detail, will allow my curiosity to help lead my research. I did a slideshow on the topic back in high school that was extremely basic and didn’t even touch on what I will be arguing for in my paper: governmental regulations. Cleaner runoff is achievable through the government stepping in to solve the problem. By being more conscious about the products agricultural practices use, we could be living in a much safer environment.

My plan to tackle this paper is to start researching right away. I will go through the sources I have already found and write down key points that I could possibly include in my paper. For my partial draft, I plan to write my background, possibly my intro, and outline the rest.

My main anxiety is not achieving the minimum word count, but rather exceeding the maximum. With so many sources, examples, and information, I’m afraid I will present too much in my paper and will have to scale back. On the other hand, I feel like once I actually start researching, I will be too overwhelmed to know what to even write and not have enough of my own words in my mind.

For my paper, I will be researching Capital Punishment and explaining why it should be outlawed nation and worldwide. In order to do this, I will be examining laws and statistics from different states to prove why this practice is inhumane and unjust. I will also look at different statistics concerning race and socioeconomic status and who usually receives a death sentence. Generally, minorities and people in a lower socioeconomic class are more likely to receive capital punishment, and I will use this as a reason why capital punishment is unfair. To prove why it is inhumane, I will examine the methods of which the sentence is carried out secondary to lethal injection. Some states have cruel secondary methods, and other countries have inhumane methods as well. This paper will use all this information and others to make readers agree that capital punishment needs to be stopped. It will end with a call to action to citizens that they need to protest or get in touch with their representatives to make a change.
